Waste comes from anywhere. Waste can be anything. Handled is a waste management system that offers solutions thorugh different levels. In 2015, Hong Kong Produced 5.51 million tonnes of waste. One of the biggest problems Hong Kong suffers is the lack of proper waste manegement where matter ends up misplaced. This project focuses on looking into the whole waste management system and understand the different reasons of why Hong Kong is so polluted, why the landfills are collapsing and try to find solutions that would be efficient on separating the different kind of waste as well as keeping the streets clean. It is an interdisciplinary study among industrial design, system design, user experience, and service design focusing on improving not only the waste management methods but also the waste collection equipment for the efficiency of sorting, recycling, composting and disposing. Bamcart has been designed to collect waste and recyclables efficiently based on the primary research insights. Utilizing bamboo joinery techniques with recovered scaffolding bamboo and waste aluminum coming from the users as well as MSW, Bamcart’s modular design along with its rattan woven baskets for misplaced public street recyclables, can be considered a result and set the example of proper waste management.
